Built By Passion

Jessica Begeman is a 2022 Udall Scholar. This marked the first time ever that an SDSU student has been chosen for the highly competitive award. Rewind to three years prior, Begeman decided to attend SDSU unsure of what to major in. After reflecting on SDSU’s resources and her passions, Begeman landed on studying with SDSU’s College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, a nationally recognized program with plenty of hands-on opportunities.

Hattie Seten at graduation

Built By Ambition

Hattie Seten became the second SDSU student to receive The Rhodes Scholarship, an international postgraduate award for students to study at the University of Oxford. It is the oldest graduate scholarship in the world and among the world's most prestigious international scholarship programs. For Seten it was a great honor and proof that she made the right decision on coming home to South Dakota State University. While learning overseas in Morocco, Seten began planning her university education, noting that she wanted to return to the welcome she experienced while visiting SDSU. It was during her undergraduate studies that a senior in the political science department recommended she apply for the scholarship. Together with the help of her fellow students and SDSU faculty, Seten was able to apply and become one of the American Rhodes Scholars.
